January Jewel ~ A Photoshoot
Hey guys! I'm so happy to be posting this week. I've been pretty consistent this month, but it's only the beginning of the year... I'm going to try to be more consistent than last year. New Year's resolutions and all that jazz.
Anyway.
2026 is American Girl's 40th anniversary, and I'm really hoping they do something cool for it. In the meantime, however, I decided I wanted to do something cool for their birthday. I had a sweet photoshoot idea using my white body dolls... and then I stubbornly refused to change Kirsten's outfit and the other two girls didn't have anything that coordinated with her.
The audacity, am I right?
So I ended up just taking pictures of Kirsten---I'll do something with all three WB dolls later. Let's get into it!
I took these photos in my backyard, and I feel like I could have gone with a more exciting background. Oh well. Also this is my obligatory mention that I love my white body Kirsten so much. She's a 1989 tinsel hair, and I'm always just... awed that I have her. She was such a grail of mine. I got her school outfit for Christmas, and I think it looks perfect on Miss '89.
I experimented a bit, but I actually like these photos a lot. I downloaded a new preset for Adobe Lightroom, and while it was exactly the kind of color grading I've been daydreaming about using for my photography, I'm not sure whether it was the right choice for this photoshoot. Regardless, I still think it's good. Kirsten's eyes pop so much, which is one of my favorite things about this doll.
Somehow her hair is in better condition than it was when I last took pictures of her (this post from 2024), which is fascinating to me right now. All I've done is brush it occasionally and put it in braids.
She's soooo cute and I feel that I've unfortunately already run out of things to say.
Soooo, this Kirsten was my first limb restringing, and she's gotten floppy again. I don't mind too much since she's a display doll, but she would NOT stand up on the uneven ground. I ended up standing her on a flower pot, and I'm impressed that I managed to not get it in the frame. You'd never even know. :)
(And YAY for a full-body pic!)

I'm curious to see how my white body dolls photograph together. They all have vaguely different looks, so it might end up looking like a group picture where everyone is looking at a different camera. But yeah, my idea is to take pictures of them since they're my oldest dolls. Molly is from 1988 and Samantha and Kirsten are both 1989.
I'm living for the one spot of bokeh in the corner.
This is soooo perfect. I already said it, but I'm so happy with these pictures. It helped that my subject is so photogenic. :)
This one may be my favorite, but it's genuinely really hard to pick a top photo.
And of course you can see the pot she's standing on in this one. I knew there'd be one, haha. It's still cute though.
And with that, we've reached the end. Have a great week and remember to eat your veggies! Bye! <3
