What My Dolls Are Wearing - August 2024

 

    Hey guys! I did one of these for Christmas 2022, and I thought it would be fun to do today! It's not often where all of my dolls are dressed. Oftentimes, I spend so long working on a handful of outfits, that only the dolls I use the most often get dressed. I don't have the most efficient method of doll dressing, but I did manage to accomplish the task this time, and I'm very proud of the fact. I also figured out how to do flash photography, so I'm extra happy lol. 

Before we get started, all of these items are either from American Girl or handmade. If you want to know where a piece comes from, just ask! I'm mostly doing commentary on these outfits, not so much what each doll is wearing. So yes, let's get started or however you write this kind of transition thingy. (I've been blogging for ages and I still don't know how to write. That's lovely.) 

First off, we're starting with Luna! I took these photos with no rhyme or reason, so the order is completely random. I do really like this outfit, even if it's not great for summer, and I'm glad I finally got her glasses to look decent on her face. I bought those glasses when I got Luna, but they're really wonky (maybe because of her face mold, maybe they're just bad quality?) and don't stay on very well. 

I honestly wasn't expecting to love Rowan's outfit as much as I do. It feels very 1970s to me.

Carmen is wearing the exact same thing she was the last time she was in a post.

I'm actually surprised that Nicki's outfit is kinda cute. She doesn't have shoes on because at some point, I gave up on shoes. As I always say, shoes are overrated.

Isabel's outfit is very Barbiecore. 

Liam, like Carmen, has not had an outfit change. Also I just realized that I still haven't given Liam a full name... I can't decide if he's going to be Grace's brother or not.

This outfit is very Olivia-Claire. I really have a love-hate relationship with this dress. 

This outfit feels so low-effort, but I've loved this romper since I made it years ago. It is quite literally falling apart by now. It's super cute on Toni, so I don't really mind.

Kaya looks so sporty. 

Troy is wearing a shirt that says "Sorry, I can't come into work. I just found out that the world doesn't revolve around me." Which I felt was very him. You can see how stained his right arm is though. Honestly, y'all, this doll came to me in terrible condition. We don't talk about it.

Min-Ji!! I was looking over the Pinterest board I have for outfit ideas for Min-Ji and I realized she's kinda emo so that's... fun? Also her hair is in a claw clip and I'm proud of the fact that I got it to say and look decent because I've never been able to pull this hairstyle off on a doll before.

Eden, my mini-me, is wearing a Hozier shirt. Can't imagine why that would be. *Shrug* I actually love how her hair looks in different styles, but it's very ironic because I personally never put my own hair up. 

Why does this photo look so bad compared to the other ones?! Ugh, whatever. Anyway, Lottie is wearing the strawberry dress that I made her. It's so Lottie. Like, if she was a character that American Girl released, this would be her meet outfit. 

I have nothing to say except I gave up trying here. 

Julie hasn't had an outfit change since her last appearance. Those overalls are one of the only doll clothing items I own that aren't from AG or made by me. They are homemade, though. 

Emily doesn't really rock the red as much as I thought she would, looking back. Oh well.

Molly's not really wearing anything special. ALSO, Y'ALL, HER GLASSES BROKE. My two Mollys are sharing one pair of glasses between them. I just didn't feel like getting the glasses off my white body to take this picture. 

I have a tendency to dress Melody in the most basic outfits ever, but I'm not mad about this one.

I tried here. Do we love it or hate it? I can't decide.

You guys have seen this outfit before, but AHHH I just love it so much!!

I have a tendency to throw Nanea's School Outfit onto Felicity when I'm feeling lazy while dressing dolls. I also didn't feel like getting the shoes out for this. Sorry, Lissie. 

Claudie is cute in everything, change my mind.

I really hate putting Maryellen in browns and reds because I feel like they match her hair too much, but SHE ATE in these pants. Plus her Scooby Doo shirt. It doesn't get much more Maryellen than that. (I love Maryellen too much, she's my little cryptid hunter.) 

Another doll who absolutely ATE. Nanea is so cute in purple, I literally cannot handle it. I want to do a photoshoot with her so baddddd. (This is me writing this sentence while I'm on vacation.) 

This outfit is so mediocre, and I know shoes would help, but like I said, I genuinely gave up on shoes.

This outfit did not have to go so hard. I love how the green contrasts Stella's hair?? Blue and green are just good colors, okay? 

Saige is a doll that I'm definitely falling back in love with. That being said, I don't like these pants lol.

You guys have seen this outfit on Lea already. It's so her.

Caroline looks really cute in this dress I made. Also her hair looks good.

Omg this photo is so crooked. I never really use Elizabeth, so I just put her in a dress and didn't even brush her hair. I'm so sorry. Justice for Elizabeth.

REBECCA!! I constantly feel the need to gush over Rebecca. I love her so much. ANYWAY! I thought this outfit was soooo cute on her. 

Blaire! I made this dress out of a dress I outgrew. It was painfully difficult to follow the instructions that came with the sewing pattern. The blue looks so, so good on Blaire though.

I really wanted Ruthie to wear this Love Shack Fancy dress, and I think it looks adorable on her. 

Whenever I saw the Gap outfit, I knew it was meant for Ivy. I was going to do a review on this outfit, but it's already sold out, so I'm not sure if that's something you guys would still want to see? 

I was not expecting Luciana to slay in these overalls, but okay. 

I've been trying to find some new outfit ideas for Logan, and this was what I came up with. It's not terrible. 

McKenna! I love the little navy flowers on the dress. I think that's a good color for her. Watch me use this outfit on McKenna for Christmas.

We've discussed here on the blog how cute Grace is in red, so here was the inspiration for me to put her in more red. Why is she so cute in this outfit??

Samantha is cosplaying as Barbie because why not. This dress is genuinely one of my favorite things I've sewn to date. 

A few more of my favorite things I've sewn! These are my favorite pair of doll jeans that I've mentioned before. I love them so much. Maryellen's pants were made from the same pattern. I love the corset top as well. I thrifted the fabric and knew what I wanted to make the second I saw it. It's so cute. Kirsten is one of my cottage core girlies, so this fit is perfect for her. And she looks amazing in blue, as well.

Here's Joss' fit! It's very not my style, but I think it's cute.

I actually kind of love this outfit. Also, I gave Isabelle freckles. I think the freckles are cute on her.

Addy is really cute in this outfit, even though it was a super low-effort outfit. I like her hair in the braids too. I was going to put her hair in bubble braids, but she was the last doll I dressed and I was feeling lazy, so I settled on regular braids.

I kind of just threw a dress onto Tenney, but oh well. This dress was the first thing I made on my sewing machine when I got it, and I have definitely improved since then, but this dress has stuck around.

I can't decide what vibes this outfit is giving off, but it's very not-Courtney in a Courtney way. 

And last but not least, Josefina! This was another dress I made, with the same pattern as Elizabeth's dress. I love the gold sandals with it. Josefina looks very autumn-y. 

And that's about it! This post was super chaotic, but if it isn't chaotic, what's the point? I hope you guys at least enjoyed seeing the outfits.
