About Me
Welcome to Just Dolling!
My name is E, and I'm the girl behind the blog.
When I was 5 years old, my family somehow ended up on American Girl's mailing list. Knee-deep in my loving-pretty-girly-things phase, it was love at first sight.
I received Marie Grace for Christmas in 2013, and my love for American Girl has only grown since then. Once I learned to read, the American Girl books defined my childhood---sparking a love for history that I continue to carry with me. Later in elementary school, my dolls were vessels for my own storytelling. They were my friends when I felt alone, and offered introductions to other creative interests I would never have pursued otherwise. As my dolls' backstories began to diverge from their American Girl characters, I built my own little imaginary world. Most of that little imaginary world has stuck around.
In 2018, I started this blog to share my American Girl doll photography. It has grown into such an amazing creative outlet, and I'm grateful for everyone who has played a part in JD. At the time, I had no idea where the blog would take me, and with little dedication, I took a significant hiatus starting in 2019. Inspired by a resurgence in American Girl blogs, I revitalized JD in 2022. Just Dolling has been going strong ever since.
Outside of dolls, I'm an academically-driven high schooler planning to pursue a degree in history, and an eclectic teen who thinks tea is better than coffee. I love to sew, write, and take photos. I've been sewing since I was 7 years old, and love to make pretty things from thrifted materials. Writing is a bit of a newer hobby for me, but it's one that has become a huge comfort in my life. Photography has long been one of my interests, and after years of practicing doll photography, I'm starting to branch out into new types of photography. My favorite places on earth are flea markets and thrift stores, especially when I'm able to find something cool. I'll always be on the lookout for my dream (doll and non-doll) items at the thrift. Some of my favorite music artists are Hozier, Paris Paloma, and The Happy Fits; I will definitely try to convince you to listen to the music I like if you're not careful. I enjoy reading classical literature. I collect old clothing buttons, and especially love the Victorian-era styles.
I'm a doll lover through-and-through, and aside from American Girl, I'm a huge fan of Barbie and Monster High. Sometimes doll content that isn't AG-related works its way into the blog, but I promise it's just as fun.
I hope you enjoy my blog!
As I always say, have a great day and remember to eat your veggies!
