Hey guys! I'm currently working on a Halloween special... which is coming along very slowly so I can't promise it'll be out by Thursday. I'm working on it, though. In the meantime, I wanted to rave about this gorgeous girl.
(This post is just going to be me yapping about my new doll, including a few photos that I initially wasn't going to post.)
For my birthday, I received my holy grail doll, Truly Me 86. I unfortunately fell in love with this girl after she retired, and had hoped to find her at the benefit sale last year, but she was not one of the dolls they had there. I had initially decided to save up for her after paying off the Barbie collector doll, but that didn't end up happening. I was thrilled to receive her for my birthday. It's been a long time coming with this girl, and I'm excited to have her in my collection!
I feel a sense of completion with this girl. She's the last doll I really want, and I don't think I'll be buying any more AG dolls. (I do want a white body Samantha soon, but she'll be display-only.) After 11 years, I've built a really cool collection and I love the dolls that I have. :)
Miss girl is in great shape. She has a little mark on her nose, but honestly I'm just going to cover it up with a stick-on jewel because I think she'd be adorable with a nose ring. Otherwise, her limbs are tight and her hair is flawless. 🤩 Her condition is lowkey making me feel like I just went to the store and picked her out, which I am loving.
I guess this is the name reveal part lol. I went back and forth with name ideas for 86 before I even received her. Originally, I wanted to continue my series of naming dolls random Latin words, and I liked Nova, which is a feminine adjective that means "new." And then I decided I liked the name Priya better. Then I settled on a completely different name, so meet Eris Mackenzie Roswell!
Eris comes from Greek mythology. According to the mythos, Eris is the goddess of discord and strife. When she's not invited to the wedding of Thetis and Peleus, she throws a golden apple into the reception that says "for the fairest," which is one of the first events in a chain that leads up to the Trojan War. Obviously, I named Troy after the city of Troy from the Trojan War (I was reading the Iliad at the time), so their names connect. I thought miss girl needed a cool and slightly edgy name, plus Eris has a nice ring to it and sounds somewhat modern.
Mackenzie is a loose Hozier reference. It comes from the song "No Plan" (which is explicit just btw). There's a line that goes: "As Mack explained, there will be darkness again." There's a whole story of how the song was inspired by a TED Talk, but basically Mack is an astronomer. I thought Mack was a really cute name and I figured it could be short for Mackenzie because I felt like Eris needed a 3-syllable middle name.
Roswell just comes from Roswell, New Mexico, which is famous for an alleged UFO crash.
So now you know way too much about my naming process. Fun.
As for her personality, she's still developing. I do know that Eris moved to Piney Grove from New York City. She lives by the motto "momento mori" and plays DND. A love for broadway runs in her family, but she finds the most interest in Shakespeare. She's rarely ever seen without her headphones. Her favorite color is purple (clearly), but black, silver, and rose gold are close contenders as well. Eris dyed her hair purple at home, without her parents knowing. They were mad at first but they've come around to the color. Her zodiac sign is Ares.
I may have more on her character than I thought...
And that's about it! I just felt like showing off this beautiful girl and yapping a bit about her. I'm excited to feature her in upcoming projects, In the meantime, have a great week and remember to eat your veggies! Bye! <3
Eris is so pretty! Congrats on getting one of your dream dolls. Her personality seems really cool.
