26 Retired Truly Me Outfits I Need in 2026

Hey guys! I'm procrastinating on a photoshoot right now and have nothing better to do, so I thought I'd make a post about my favorite retired American Girl of Today/Just Like You/My American Girl/Truly Me/whatever outfits. There are so many, and since I focus so much on the Historical outfits, I'm always discovering new contemporary outfits! I haven't genuinely liked any of AG's TM outfits they've released in the past year or two, but discovering retired outfits has filled me with a lot of the excitement I've missed from releases. Obviously my doll collecting mentality has shifted forms and I'm less hasty with buying things, but I think it would be fun to buy some inexpensive retired TM outfits when I have money, since the historical outfits I want are all pricey.

And of course, since it's 2026, I decided to rank 26 of my favorites!

26. Hiking Outfit I

Are the original AGOT outfits not iconic? I would buy any of them in a heartbeat *if I could thrift them.* This one I especially love---look at the cargo shorts! I'm a sucker for cargo shorts and AG doesn't give us relaxed pants like that anymore. Plus, the quarter-zip has come back into style, so... ironically, this outfit feels more current than some of the more recent AG stuff. I would love to have more of those relaxed styles in my collection, so this would be a must-have. All of the pieces would be excellent to mix-and-match with, and I love versatility.

25. Velour Sweat Suit

This one is so funny to me. I feel like it would end up being a mild pain to mix-and-match, but all together? I love it. I love the idea of my dolls having a velour tracksuit. They've made a few similar outfits, but this one is my favorite. It's almost obnoxiously 2000s.

24. Licorice's Best Friend Outfit

I think this outfit would be so cute on the right doll. I love the dress, and that's honestly the selling point for me.

23. Singing Star Outfit

I had a dream one time before I got Eris that I got a Truly Me 86 in this outfit, and it's been in my mind ever since. The purple would be perfect on Eris... or maybe Stella also. The outfit fits Stella's vibe a little more. Either way, I think the purple pants would be so much fun to mix-and-match with!

22. School Days Outfit I

I should have prefaced this post by saying that my personal style is not caught up with the trends AT ALL. So, that being said, this is an outfit I would probably wear. I can't really explain it. The outfit is cutesy and casual, so I can imagine it having so much versatility, even if it doesn't have as much mix-and-match potential with the shirt being one piece. And who doesn't love a good pair of doll jeans?

21. Camping Outfit

This one seems very relaxed and comfy. The pieces would be perfect to mix-and-match with, but I'm also obsessed with how the purple goes with the yellow bandana. Purple and yellow is a fun combination.

20. Poolside Plaid Outfit

I feel like this outfit is what AG thinks they're doing with Isabel and Nicki's collection. It's very cute---I love the colors (again with the purple and yellow!). I don't know who would look the best in it, but I think, once it's on the right doll, it would be one of those outfits that gets pulled out a lot. I can definitely envision it on maybe a doll with a darker skin tone or hair color. Like maybe Toni or Nanea?

19. Fancy Flowers Outfit

This one is sooooo 2000s, but the vintage lover in me adores how dated it is. I feel like light colors work well on so many dolls, so I love the light blue, and of course I love a good floral. That should come as no surprise. Obviously it's meant to be a fancier outfit, but it does that without being over-the-top or tacky (like some of AG's current outfits; don't sue me, AG). I saw a picture of this outfit on Melody, and it looked perfect on her, so it's a need.

18. Valentine Party Outfit

Okay, look, hear me out. I have this green paisley maxi skirt from probably the 90s or 2000s that I thrifted for myself, and it's one of my favorite clothing pieces I own. This outfit's skirt reminds me of *my* skirt, so of course it's a need! I know it's a Valentine's outfit, but the hearts make it so cutesy to me, and I would probably have dolls in it year-round. I think it would be adorable without the jacket as well, and I know I'd try so hard to style the skirt into other outfits. There's not a doll this wouldn't look cute on.

17. Spring Flower Outfit

This style of dress is probably something I would have worn in middle school, and I still love that style for my dolls. The floral is so cute, and of course, you know I think the colors are perfect for so many dolls.

16. Drawstring Cargos and Plaid Shirt

Probably the most iconic American Girl of Today outfit. I have wanted it since I was, like, 10 years old. I don't know why I don't own it yet. The individual pieces are so good to mix-and-match, and as a whole, it's an amazing casual and gender-neutral outfit! I'm always looking for outfits with individual pieces I can use for my boys, and literally every piece of this outfit would be perfect. It actually has Logan's name written all over it. Do we see the vision?

15. Petals and Posies Dress

I'm aware this dress is *so* basic, but it's such a cute style I can't resist. The design is simplistic, and that's why it works! Again, cool colors are my go-to, so I think it would be perfect for so many dolls, and the embroidery at the bottom of the dress makes the whole thing! It's so cute.

14. Jumper and Boots Set

I think this outfit is iconic! I feel like I see it a lot. The jumper has a fun whimsical touch that would be so fun to try to style in different ways. I picture it with a black under shirt on Min-Ji.

13. Satin Floral PJ Set

I'm not normally a doll pajama person, but omg, imagine the VIBE this set would bring to a photoshoot. It's literally its own aesthetic. I fear I may need this JUST for a cutesy sleepover photoshoot.

12. Sweetheart Skirt Set

I would have overlooked this outfit if I wasn't making this post. It's so simple, and yet, with all its pieces, comes together perfectly. The outfit reminds me of Gwen Thompson, who is my dream doll right now (I'd settle for a Jly 12 though tbh), except I've decided I have to thrift or find her locally, so... yeah, you can imagine how that search is going (it's not). However. If I ever get my Guinevere (that's what I'd rename her), she WILL be getting this outfit to herself. It just looks so light and comfy, and of course I'm obsessed with the embroidery on the skirt. I feel like it's giving Elle Woods, but I have never seen Legally Blonde, so I'm kind of making things up at this point.

11. Embroidered Party Dress

Moving on to another fancy dress I'm obsessed with. (Can y'all tell I like doll dresses?) This one looks so, so whimsical! It's giving me fairy vibes. I don't know who would wear it, but it's one of those jewel tones I like, so I would find someone. I'm honestly thinking Claudie? Or maybe Lea.

10. Frosty Fun Outfit

I would wear this outfit, hands down. I love a cute jacket, and this one fits the criteria. And then the rainbow scarf ties everything together. It's so me. I don't *love* the boots, but I see the vision. It doesn't actually come with the pants, which makes it feel like you can't call it an "outfit," but I don't care.

9. Petal Pink Outfit II

Yes, another dress. Deal with it. I have no immunity against a cute dress with embroidery. There's nothing left to be said. Imagine it in a spring photoshoot. That's all.

8. Sapphire Party Dress

This outfit makes me want to scream. I love it that much. The dress itself is somewhat reminiscent of what my dream hoco dress would be, but combined with the under shirt? Ugh, yes. I love it. This would look so good on so many different dolls.

7. Garden Party Outfit

No, we're not done with cute dresses. This outfit has low-key been a grail of mine for a while. I love the mesh overlay dress part so much, and it has lived rent-free in my head since I first saw it. It's another outfit that would be adorable on so many different dolls!

6. Sparkly Tunic and Jeans Outfit

I saw this outfit on an AGTube video recently, and it has quickly climbed to the top of my mental wishlist. The tunic looks like something I so desperately want to thrift for myself. It's that kind of shirt in which you find things that resemble it, but they're grandma-y instead of cute. AG has managed to pull it off perfectly, so it looks artsy and cool. And then don't get me started on the cut of the jeans. They're perfect. I would probably use them as a guide for a pattern and make a million pants with the same cut. And finally, THE CLOGS??? I love shoes that are kinda clunky... these are literally the most perfect shoes I have ever seen. My dolls could be living *MY* cool, artsy, thrift-store-shopping girl dreams in this outfit. I'm so jealous of American Girl dolls right now. I need this outfit in my size.

5. Starflower Outfit

I'm so glad I learned this outfit exists. I had never seen it before coming up with this list, and I don't understand why! It has more of that cool, artsy, thrift-store-shopping girl vibe that I want for myself. The flowy sleeves, the cardigan, and even the STAR POCKETS on the PURPLE CORDUROY skirt? Umm, guys, this is actual perfection. I could imagine it's not conventionally cute to other people, but to me? I fear it's something I would wear.

4. Photographer Outfit

Well, obviously I'm a photographer, so I was destined to like this outfit. However, it is, once again, the "cool, artsy, thrift-store-shopping girl" style I've been going on about. Clearly American Girl nailed the style of this photographer. That's all that matters. Anyway, I mean, just look at how "I-shop-at-thrift-stores" that blazer is. And then, my favorite part, THOSE PANTS. I have a lot of jeans right now, so I've been daydreaming about pants that aren't jeans. These are literally such a perfect cut, and the embroidery is to die for. Again, I'm so jealous of American Girl dolls right now omg. Of course I have to mention the shoes as well because they are adorable. And if that wasn't enough, of course it has a beret for *extra* artsy cool girl points. 😭

3. Karaoke Outfit

This is another outfit I've wanted since I first saw it! I think I saw it on a Jly 4 at some point and went, "Yep, Min-Ji needs that." She wears a lot of black and purple in my mind. The butterfly-print satin is so perfect, I'm not even going to gush about it. And of course, the shoes have to be platforms too. That's like kryptonite for me.

2. Flower Power Outfit

Have I ever mentioned I love cardigans? This is common knowledge about me. So that being said, I'm gonna love an AG outfit that features a cardigan. And this one? I mean, come on. I've always wanted a cardigan that ties in the front, and of course this one has to have bell sleeves and be in the most perfect shade of plum ever. I'm back to being jealous. This has been a mental wishlist outfit for a while, and I almost never see it in anyone's collection! If the cardigan didn't have me sold already, the pants are adorable too. I get excited about pants. Don't ask. I would 100% wear this outfit because it looks so cute and cozy. So yeah obviously my dolls need it.

1. Paisley Dress

If there's one pattern I love most---even more than florals---it's paisley. I. Love. Paisley. I see paisley and my brain gets excited. So obviously I see a SPARKLY paisley dress with fun sleeves and it's game over. I really wish it was my size. I need it ASAP.

And that's all for now! I'm off to go dress my dolls and long for these outfits. Have a great week and remember to eat your veggies! Bye! <3

  1. This is going to be a CRAZY long comment, so bear with me 😂 (I’ve been meaning to comment on your posts for months 🥲) but omg is it bad that I saw the sparkly tunic outfit on your list and immediately felt like an icon because my dolls have it? 😂 but omg I swear we have the same tastes, because I LOVE all 26!!! I think my boy dolls would look INCREDIBLE in the cargos and plaid shirt… and I’m afraid Eden desperately needs the purple jumper and boots! I’ve had the sapphire party dress sitting in my eBay cart for what feels like a decade now… 😅 I need to finally just commit! Though I need to get my hands on some AG valentines pieces too…. 😅✨😂
I can’t wait to see photos once you get the outfits!

    1. Omggg of course you have the tunic outfit, you're so cool. 😭 (If you leave your window unlocked at night and some of your AG stuff goes missing, it wasn't me.) You definitely need the sapphire party dress!! I may have to live vicariously through you for a bit because I desperately need a job this year. 😅
