Styx ~ A Mini Photoshoot
Hey guys! (It feels mandatory to start my blog posts with "Hey Guys!" at this point.) I don't think I've actually ever talked much about the actual process of making Troy. Like... this doll has a ton of lore. I have a 4-page Google Doc on his character, and genuinely NONE of my other dolls have had personalities jump out to me so much. I love writing for Troy, but I've actually never done a photoshoot with him. However, I was recently touching up on some of his customizations, and I had a sudden urge to take some basic photos of him... which turned into a really fun and unconventional mini photoshoot. So I hope you enjoy. <3
How cool is this?? I genuinely pulled up a picture of "pink" on my chromebook and turned up the brightness, and pulled up a picture of "blue" on my phone and turned up the brightness. Voila, we have epic mood lighting. Also, I used my reflector as a background?? It looks so cool??
I filled in Troy's eyebrows with colored pencils and heat styled his hair so his bangs would lay the way I wanted. I have a vision, I promise.
I don't love this photo. I don't really like the angle.
Okay, my one issue here is that the top of his head kind of blends in with the background. Otherwise? Perfect. Also, is it just me, or is the lighting kind of giving Star Wars? Like he's forced to choose between the light side and the dark side. (I've never seen a full Star Wars movie.) But that is genuinely hot pink, not red.
He looks like a model in some sort of advertisement--- either a weird car ad or a designer clothing ad. I can't decide. Regardless, it feels very street style and I expect nothing less dramatic from Troy. This is easily my favorite picture from the photoshoot.
Big shout-out to the black poster board I got last summer at photography camp. The other side has all my work from camp and a bunch of paint-marker-doodles, but the backside has been used in many photoshoots and at this point it's been featured on the blog many times. Look how delightful my trusty black poster board is as a backdrop.
And one last photo! Troy's actually really photogenic. I've been missing out.
That's all for now! Have a great week and remember to eat your veggies! Bye! <3
The desire I have right now to go and take a ton of photos of Caspian.... love these ✨
