Purple ~ A Photoshoot
Hey guys! I don't know about everyone else, but it was a busy weekend for me. I wanted to squeeze in a simple post, and I had an idea, but I ended up giving up on it on Saturday. So. These photos are very last minute, but I hope you enjoy them nonetheless!
I've been needing to do some more photos with Eris, and she was standing in my dollhouse, staring at me with those cute little light-brown eyes that do not suit Tenney but look precious on 86. I decided to play into the purple in her hair, using the same technique I did in this photoshoot. Imma be honest, it's not my favorite photoshoot I've done, but in a pinch, it worked great. :)
I was going for a "make-everything-as-purple-as-her-hair," and I think I succeeded? Her skin is very purple.
I finally gave Eris a nose ring! It's a stick-on jewel like Min-Ji's, and it's covering up a mark she has. That stick-on jewel was the last thing I bought from our Joann's before it closed. 😢 RIP. Now I guess I'll HAVE to stick with my New Year's resolution of not buying fabric... we have a Hobby Lobby but their selection is way more limited.
Oh, another tragedy: I'm allergic to the earring backs I've had on my ears for a week. The earrings themselves are fine, but the backs were random ones I found in my drawer... don't wear random earring backs you find in your drawer from when you were 8. My ear hurts. I spent so much time I could have been writing this trying to sanitize my piercings. OH WHICH REMINDS ME. I have the girl sized heart AG x Stephanie Gotlieb earrings, AND ERIS IS WEARING THE DOLL-SIZED ONES. I should have taken a picture.
This post is so chaotic. I give up. Fitting for a photoshoot about a doll named after the Greek goddess of discord. And actually I think this is the exact same photo as the last one. Oh well. My posterboard and fairy lights have never failed me.
I've been trying something new with my loose-curl dolls. I got a thing of hair nets (literally human ones, not anything special), and have been keeping my dolls in hair nets when I'm not using them! Eris got a little bumped around while being handled a while back, but the hair net seemed to keep her curls really well!
It's crazy that, two years ago, I considered the Josefina mold my least favorite face mold?? Clearly I hadn't seen Eris. (Or my Rebecca... she is the cutest Rebecca I have ever seen, and I will die on that hill. It only makes it better that I picked her out in store.) Idk, I think it's the newer casts of the Josefina mold that resonate with me. The eyes are kinda doe-eyed, and I like that look on the Josefina mold.
This photo would have been perfect... IF IT WEREN'T BLURRY. It's all because I had to hold my camera in one hand and my phone in another... something cool about my camera is that some compatible lenses have sensors that straighten the shot so there's no shakiness. But guess what I don't have? A lens that works with my camera body. I use an adapter, but hey, it works. *I'm being way too snarky, I mean all of this in the most lighthearted and humorous way. Like, "laugh at my mild inconveniences that aren't actual problems with me!" Also I'm tired and I get more unhinged when I'm sleepy.* I will say, though, I think I'm getting better about the shaky hands. Who even needs a lens for that? Work harder, not smarter!
I do this thing where I make up nicknames for my dolls that are the shorthand for notes about my dolls, but are literally not canon as nicknames for them in my writing. So, Marie Grace is "MG," Olivia-Claire is "Livy-C," Min-Ji is "MJ," etc. My brain keeps subconsciously wanting to shorten Eris, but the best I can think of is "Er," pronounced like "air," and that's kinda weird. I don't think there's really a nickname for Eris, unless I was going to call her, like... Strife. I mean. That works.
She really is adorable, though. 86 was my grail doll for long enough that I still don't always process that I have her. But you know what's scary? Finally getting fine enough sand paper to get shine marks out of doll vinyl and deciding to test it on your 86's FACE first. It buffed out perfectly, but I panicked for a second. That happened in February, so I don't know why I felt like sharing that now.
And then, I had originally started a sort of lighting study with Carmen, and look how cute this picture turned out!
The editing is gorgeous, the light is fun, Carmen is photogenic. I love it so much. I couldn't believe my blinds actually did the light thing, because I've wanted to get this kind of lighting in a photo for YEARS. Carmen is always fun to use in posts. She's another doll that has a special place in my heart, like Eris.
And that's all for now! Have a great week and remember to eat your veggies! Bye! <3
I uhm... well it was 10PM and I had some cake and I sat down to read... but then you insulted my BEAUTIFUL Tenley Blaire's eyes.... so uhm... No joke I literally set my phone down and walked away 😂😂 but! We've regrouped. I totally see your concept, and I think it's cute :) very solar/space vibes
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I had to go back and reread what I wrote about her eyes. 😅 Can you tell I wrote this post right before going to sleep? I lose my filter before bed. No offense was intended. 😠I've always kinda felt like I would like Tenney more if she had a different eye color, but now that I'm thinking about it, I don't know how much difference it would make. She might be one of those dolls I need to take pictures of to bond with. :)
DeleteBut I'm glad you were able to move past my foolishness eventually. 😂
It's chill, lol. I'm just so obsessed with my Tenney, so it was an unexpected start to my 10PM tradition 😂😂. Also, I could just google it, but I'm lazy... what type of sandpaper did you use? I honestly need to invest in some.
Delete✨finally✨, I know it's not my doll but if ✨I✨ had a doll named Eris, I would definitely be calling her Eerie (even though it's not shorter, lol)
I get that, just thought I'd clarify since tone is hard to read online. 😂
DeleteSo the stuff I kept reading to use was called Micro Mesh, but it was weirdly expensive, so I went on Amazon and picked out the cheapest off-brand sanding pads I could find. (It was $8.99 for 15 sanding pads which is still too expensive imo.) You're just looking for a pack that has sandpaper with the grades 1500, 1800, 2400, and 3200.
Ooh, I love Eerie! I might have to use that!
These photos are so pretty! I struggle to think of cool concepts for photoshoots, xD. But then again, doll photography and stuffie photography is pretty different.
ReplyDeleteAnd ughhh, it is so sad that Jo-Ann's closed! I never bought too much there because I don't sew, but I love craft stores in general...
Thank you! A lot of times, I feel like I'm just throwing things together and hoping they'll work. I've never tried stuffie photography, but I can imagine it comes with its own set of challenges. I'm sure it's fun though. :)
DeleteRight! And my area doesn't even have a Micheal's, so I really am limited to Hobby Lobby. Oh well, I'll deal somehow.
Stop how are those all so cute?? I love how the purple pictures turned out, and the light pattern with the blinds was perfecttttt!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I tagged you in a song tag...you and your dolls can talk about Hozier together? https://thesunshinenotes.wordpress.com/2025/05/11/the-your-songs-tag/
Thank you!! I'm especially proud of the photo with the blinds!
Delete(I already saw the tag, thank you for tagging me! I was working on my Monday post when y'all posted it, so I got to it quick lol.)
