Summer, Rompers, and Lavender ~ A Photoshoot

Hey guys! I'm officially on summer break. I'm so glad school's out. Over the school year, I haven't spent much time sewing, so the very first thing I did on break was sit down to sew! Obviously, I had to do a photoshoot once I was done.

I took these photos at 8 pm, and I left my reflector inside. I didn't feel like going back into the house to get my reflector, so I attempted to brighten her eyes up in editing. I'm not sure it really worked. These photos look fine on my phone, but they look way over exposed on my Chromebook. Oh well. It was at least good practice.

My mom told me to put the romper on a blonde doll, and my dad told me to put it on a doll with black hair... so naturally I put it on a brunette. I felt like Joss needed some love. She was my go-to girlie during COVID, but I forget that she's honestly really cute. Mine was purchased in February 2020, so she's the first edition version--- they changed the eyebrows on later dolls, which is a super minuscule detail, but when I was younger, having something first-edition was a big deal. 😅

E getting multiple full-body shots?? What is this??

Imma be honest, Jocelyn was one of my favorite names ever for a long time, and I always intend to have my Joss go by Jocelyn with Joss as a more casual nickname, and then I call her Joss anyway. Also I finally found her hearing aid. I don't remember where I found it, but I'm keep it close. I think I have the back-up somewhere too...?

I don't love this picture, but it is what it is.

These were taken in my backyard, and I tried to get these lavender bushes in the pictures. I think I did pretty well.

I'm just going to say it: Joss has one of my favorite AG wigs. It's not the best to style, but the layers are soooo fun and her hair literally never looks bad. The hair styling problem is easy to ignore because I have so many other dolls that have style-able hair.

Okay wait this picture is so cute. I need to take more pictures next to the lavender.

I don't really care for this photo, either. I don't know why.

I wanted to take a close-up shot, but mostly so I could show off this romper a little bit more! Several months ago, I went to my favorite thrift store, and somebody had donated an entire collection of doll sewing patterns! They were mostly Barbie, which I also collect, but there were plenty of AG ones as well. I think I ended up buying 25 patterns total, and this thrift store has a sewing pattern deal of 5 for $1, so I ONLY PAID 5 DOLLARS. This romper came out of a AG x Simplicity pattern I thrifted that day. The fabric was also thrifted from the same thrift store on a different occasion. It's really cute; it has some shiny gold accents running through it that didn't really pick up on camera. All that to say, the romper has working pockets. Working pockets in doll clothes are some of my favorite things ever, especially to sew.

And then my dog wanted to see what I was doing, so I took his picture. This is Gus. :)

I don't know what commentary to make here. 😀 Oh, how about: my watermarking app decided to become paid, and the new one I downloaded was making me impatient, so I was like, "I could literally just add 'Just Dolling' to my photos through my camera roll!!" So I did. But that's why the watermark is kinda ugly.
Why does a watermark app need to be paid anyway???!!! All you're doing is putting text on my pictures!!!

I also took a close-up of the front, to show off the buttons. I wanted to add something sentimental to this outfit, and though they don't look like much, the buttons were given to me by my grandma. One of my most vivid memories with her was picking out buttons from a little stash she had collected from old clothing items, which is where these came from. Buttons always make me think about her.

So cute! I actually really like how the lavender looks with the green and pink on the romper, and the green bushes in the back help tie things together, too.

I tried laying her in the lavender (I'm actually just holding her right above the flowers in the picture), but I kinda love how it turned out.

And that's all for now! Have a great week and remember to eat your veggies! Bye! <3

  1. *sigh* I need to start sewing, I need to start sewing, I need to start sewing.... thanks for the reminder 😂😭 I love the buttons, they match the fabric perfectly. And I have to agree with your dad... black would look so much better than blonde imo.
Also.... I didn't even know watermark apps existed... but I'm sorry yours is paid now!! Everyone is just looking for new ways to make extra money, I'm telling you.

    1. It's a fun hobby, but hey, on the bright side, by not sewing, you save yourself the frustration that comes with it! 😂 I had to go through all my buttons, and the pearly ones were just ✨perfect.✨ Ironically, Ivy was the doll I used to model the outfit when I made it, and I did not like it on her at all. It's on Claudie now tho and I think it's cute. :)
Right? Like I know apps cost money to make and run, but surely not enough to warrant getting rid of what was already a free-trail version with ads!! It's JUST an app that puts text on pictures, not the next Block Blast!!

  2. That romper is so cute! And the working pockets---I can't! Maybe you should start designing human clothes for women. Because I hate women's pockets.
As always, the photos are absolutely gorgeous, and I like how the lavender kind of tied in with the romper!

    1. Thanks! I've been thinking about doing some sewing for myself, so we'll see where that takes me. 😄 I agree, women's pockets are horrible. I've fallen victim to cargo pants just so I can have pockets.
I wasn't so sure about this photoshoot, so thank you. I loved the lavender. :)

This photoshoot is just incredible. Ooh, good job on getting such a great deal on patterns. I love great deals. Great photoshoot, E!

    1. Thank you so much! I was feeling so iffy about the pictures, but I really do love the composition and just the general idea of everything. I don't always have successful thrift trips, but now I never skip the craft section!
