My Collecting Goals: 6 Month Progress Check

Hey guys! It's June, and you know what that means! We're 6 months into 2025. (HOW??) In January, I posted my collecting goals for 2025, and I thought it would be good to do a check-in with my progress. My mental health has been in a weird place for most of the year so far, so I've been focusing on things outside of doll collecting. I've gotten a lot accomplished in the realm of my personal life, but how have I held up with my collecting goals? We're about to find out. *Spoiler alert: not very well.*

No more than 2 new American Girl dolls in my collection (Ideally 0)

I've done well on this! I mentioned wanting the Moana doll in the original goals post, and, as you guys know, I did get Delmar. I think, outside of AG, I've only gotten one other doll this year, which is crazy. That ties into my mental health stuff because dolls were stressing me out, but I've started to step back and kinda downsize, so that way I can only have what I really want.

In addition, I can only buy secondhand dolls from Flea Markets or Facebook Marketplace

I guess I'm doing fine on this one. 😅 I haven't bought any secondhand AG Dolls. I did get those big ticket items at a garage sale though! That was fun! I have been doing a lot of thrifting, but I've been looking for clothes for myself. :)

Make sure I have 1 outfit from each Historical character's collection (that's not a meet outfit or PJs)

Ha. I did actually ALMOST get Rebecca's school outfit at an antique mall, but it was missing the cardigan, and really, what's the point if the cardigan is missing? I was so mad. But anyway. Other than that, I've put in zero effort to complete this one. I haven't really been in the mood to buy new doll things. It's not that I'm growing out of them, it's just. Life in general.

   Prioritize Kirsten's Collection

Well... AG rereleased her school outfit, so that makes my life easier?

Get all of Molly's outfits

Zero progress on this, but I have looked at her victory garden dress and route 66 dress. Those are my current grails. <3

Send Kailey to the Doll Hospital

Soooo... I might just sell Kailey? Idk man. She'd be so cute with a normal flesh color, but I could also free up space. We'll see, I guess.

Bond with dolls!

I haven't... done a horrible job of this? I've focused on other things a lot this year, but I'm trying to get my characters more fleshed out. I'm realizing how nonspecific a lot of these goals are.

Take photos of all of my dolls

I've gotten so behind on this, and I'm not sure it's worth catching up. Um. Moving on.

Organize my doll stuff

Now that school's out, maybe I'll have more time for organization. It won't be too hard.

Sew some cute doll clothes

I kind of got out of my sewing hobby for a really long time, and I'm just now getting back to making doll clothes. HOWEVER, I did want to make a dent in my fabric stash, and I actually ended up getting rid of probably about half of my fabric. It was an AMAZING feeling. <3

Buy a 1960s Ponytail Barbie

I haven't even been looking for one, but trust me... I made a new display with my vintage Barbie stuff and she will fit in perfectly. *Maybe* I'll end up just asking for her for my birthday or Christmas, but I have plans, okay??

And that's all! I've completely failed at so many of these, but, I am currently having my ✨glow up✨, so I'm proud of myself for focusing on things that are honestly more important than dolls. Dolls are awesome, but it is JUST a hobby, and sometimes life throws us things that need more urgent attention. So. Moral of the story for you guys: take care of yourselves. 🖤 That's all. Have a great week and remember to eat your veggies! Bye! <3

  1. Good job on making progress with some of your goals, and there's still time to complete whatever else you want to accomplish with your dolls this year!
I hope you're doing okay. Mental health can be a lot sometimes...glad you're prioritizing yourself and other important things over dolls! <3

    1. Thank you! You're completely right--- it's only halfway through 2025!
I really am, thank you. I'm like a whole new person since school ended, it's been great. <3

  2. Yeah, sometimes life doesn't just facilitate spending a ton of time with dolls or on doll things. That's definitely happened with me! I think you're doing amazing, though, and I always enjoy your photoshoots and photostories. Good luck on your goals for the rest of 2025!

    1. That's very true! I think, for me, a lot of environmental factors were messing with my ability to enjoy the things I love. I am *very* glad to be out of that mindset. I have lots of fun ideas for summer posts, and I'm hoping to have a chance to sit down and get some of it done soon! Thank you! :)
