Dream Dress ~ A Photoshoot
Ahh, I finally have a post, let's go!! I feel like it's been a while, but I'm at the point in the summer where I have no clue what day of the week it is. TBH, I signed up for online summer classes this year, and I am so zapped.
But anyway, random story time: I've been loving the style of 1970s Gunne Sax dresses, and this seems so random right now, but I FOUND ONE THRIFTING. Actually, it was two, but one of them was so perfect and I was so excited. It was, like, a child's size and DID NOT fit. 😠I also found my dream prom dress that day and it was too small too. 😠So, in mourning, I decided to sew a dress for my dolls. If I can't have my dream dresses, I'll live vicariously through them. 🥲
Also I'm renting a lens right now for a little paid gig I'm doing, and I wanted to get some practice with it. I usually shoot with my 50 mm f/1.8, and the lens I'm renting is a 70-200 mm 2.8. Let me know if y'all think there's a difference between these and my past photos.
And let's get into it!
I'm starting off with a few photos I don't like as much. 😉 The lighting just doesn't hit that sweet spot for me. But. Look at how cute Delmar is. I love her even more than I originally thought I would, which is saying a lot.
And yeah, not a huge fan of this one. Her cheeks aren't quite rounded enough for this angle, I think. Though, I will say, I've never cared too much for the Corrine mold, but I love it on this girl. It makes sense that I'd love it because I love photographing the Nanea mold, and they have some similarities.
This one is so cute. We're getting into the territory of photos I really like! Now it's time to talk about the dress; it's a pattern I drafted inspired by the silhouettes of 1970s Gunne Sax dresses. I unfortunately didn't capture it in all its glory, but it's an ankle-length maxi dress with a sweetheart neckline and cuffed bishop sleeves. It's not inspired by one dress in particular. I just put together different shapes I liked, and I definitely think I want to sew more of them! I've been itching to sew all summer, and I finally got a new desk so that's a possibility now lol.
If she wasn't just slightly tilted, this would be one of my favorites. *granted, I'm writing this on my Chromebook, which always makes my photos look lower quality, but these were all amazing on my phone, I promise. ðŸ˜*
Aaaaa okay wait this is so cute!!!! And you can see the dress details a little better. 😄 I did three pintucks on the front with lace and I think it's my favorite thing everrrr. The buttons on the center pintuck are actually really cool--- I recently bought a big jar of buttons from an antique store, and that's where I got these! They're real mother-of-peal and probably antique!! I thought they really sold the vintage dress vibe. I'm not sure where the blue fabric of the dress came from, but I think I got it from a vintage sale when I was first learning how to sew? Either way, the navy looks SO good on Delmar.
You don't understand. I think this might be my favorite picture I've ever taken. I don't think there's anything else I can say. Just marvel at it.
I don't love the angles from above for her, but now I know that for next time.
I only edited half of these, but now I don't remember which ones I edited. Oh well. This one might have been one of them. Delmar kept falling down, so she's in slightly different spots each time. At one point when she fell, she got a ton of burrs in her hair, and I was done. I am NOT looking forward to picking burrs out of her hair. This is the second time she's fallen on a photoshoot and something bad has happened to her, and I've literally only done two photoshoots with her! Like bro, is she cursed or something??? I know she's technically a Disney Princess, but that's a little extreme.
More incoherent screaming here. Delmar is so gorgeous. 😠She's my folk-music-and-strawberry-loving girl, if you get the aesthetic. Like, the only thing that would have completed this photoshoot is a little basket full of fruit or flowers for her to hold.
And one last one! I'm sad this is it. 🥲 Oh well.
And that's all! Have a great week and remember to eat your veggies! Bye! <3
Okay. Don't get me wrong. The photos are cute. But if u want genuine honesty, they’re definitely pretty blurry /grainy compared to your normal lens. Idk if that’s just the setting??? Ik nothing ab cameras lol
ReplyDeleteOkay, that's interesting! The original files show up as extremely clear on my camera and phone, so maybe that could be something that happened in my editing/watermarking process, or a Blogger issue.
DeleteProbably blogger! They always mess up my photos ðŸ˜
