The Road to Someplace - Part 1
Don’t worry, this story has a happy ending. Most things have a tendency to work out like that.
Another regular Saturday. Then again, even perfectly uninteresting days have something not-so-routine about them. It was one of those days where everyone was in and out of the house doing whatever. Joss, Julie, and Nicki were at the skate park, the robotics team was having a meeting, Isabelle Palmer, Eden, Kirsten, and Caroline were at a sewing class, Kit was at a writing class, and everyone else except for Ivy and Molly had gone out to do something. It was one of those rare times when Ivy was practically home alone… and the boredom was driving her crazy! Molly was upstairs face timing her pen pal. They had been talking to each other a lot recently, even despite the 6 hour time difference.
Ivy sunk lower into the couch. Usually she could count on something interesting to happen when she was bored. Even all her homework had been completed. Then, as if almost on cue, Molly ran into the living room.
“You’ll never believe it!” She exclaimed.
Finally, something exciting was happening. “Did we win the lottery?” Ivy asked, knowing full well that there was no way they could have won the lottery.
“No. But, my pen pal is coming over to celebrate my birthday!”
Ivy sat up. “Your pen pal from England?”
Molly nodded, talking a mile a minute. “Yup. I’m so excited! We’ve been pen pals since we were 9, and now we finally get to see each other in-person! And, I’m going to go over to England when it’s her birthday, which is September 29—-“
“Wait,” Ivy interrupted. “If you’re going to England you know you’re paying for the plane tickets, right?”
Molly shrugged. “Nah, I’ll just walk. Anyway, we’ve got to get ready! She didn’t say when she’s coming, but it should be sometime this week. I want to throw her a welcome party. That’s the best birthday gift I can imagine.”
“And it’s a good thing, too, because we don’t ever celebrate our birthdays here. They usually go with E promising to remember them, but still forgetting. Not like it’s her fault—- she forgot her own half-birthday the other day.”
“It’s true, but we should at least put my birthday accessories to good use. We should start making decorations and stuff when all our siblings get home.”
And so, with nearly everyone home later that day, decorations were being made and the party was almost set up. The thought of having a visitor was so exciting!
Then, Kit came into the dollhouse.
“How was your writing class?” Ivy asked.
Kit hesitated. “Uh… it was good.”
Ivy raised an eyebrow and looked up from the piece of paper she was glueing. “Really? You were a lot more excited about it when you left.”
“I-“ Kit started, then shaking her head, rushed off.
Molly and Ivy exchanged a glance, both silently agreeing that it wasn’t like Kit to not be excited about writing, even if the class was boring. Something was up, and Molly knew it was up to the world’s best spy to figure it out.

Ta-da! You guys told me to make more photo stories, so I listened. ;) I feel like it’s kind of a short part, but there wasn’t too much more to elaborate on. And yes, I can never remember any of my dolls’ birthdays, and yes, I forgot my own half birthday last week. We’ll blame it on my teachers having the wrong date on the board. ;) So, any guesses as to why Kit wasn’t so excited coming home from her writing class? Hint: it’s probably not what you think! Let me know in the comments!
That’s all for now! Have a great week and remember to eat your veggies!

P.S. I’m taking a test to get my driver’s permit today! Wish me luck!
The picture of the typewriter is so cool! And I love the photo stories! I’m guessing Kit is unhappy about something she has written. 🤔
ReplyDeleteAnd, you don’t need luck! You are already the luckiest person I know!
Thank you so much! <3
DeleteOoh, intriguing! I wonder who the pen pal is!
ReplyDeleteYou got this! Just don't cry uncontrollably the first time you drive...not that I would do anything like that and create a family story that will be brought up for years. Heh.
Yes, all shall be revealed shortly!
DeleteThanks! I passed! Surprisingly there was no uncontrollable sobbing, just my brother trying to get me to do a Tokyo Drift. XD
I can't wait to see Molly walk to England! hahaha! I hope she gets swimming lessons too!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I don’t think she realizes that it would take her about a year and a half of nonstop walking to get to England…
DeleteYou and your writings, and ALL of your talents, NEVER cease to amaze me Girlfriend!!! To the smartest, sweetest, and most beautiful young lady I have ever known!!! You are loved and adored always and forever!!! I am SOooooo proud of you!!! Congrats on your driver's permit!!! NEVER doubted you for a moment!!! Give your beautiful dolls a hug and a kiss from me!!!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much! <3
DeleteOooh...intriguing, lol! Also sorry that this is late I just haven't gotten around to reading it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You’re fine! I always say better late than never! ;)
DeleteUh oh, what's happening in the dollhouse now?! I hope Kit's writing problems turn out alright - maybe she got some bad criticism on her work? Or maybe the class turned out not to be writing but sporting? (sports-ing? doing sports? I dunno!)
ReplyDeleteLove how Molly thinks she can just walk to England! XD
